Vero Beach, Florida<\/p>\n<p>Amongst cruisers, Vero Beach, Florida is known as \u201cvelcro\u201d beach, because once you get here you are stuck and never want to leave.\u00a0 Although we could have made it to our final destination of Fort Pierce in one long day, we opted to stop by Vero Beach to see what all the fuss was about.<\/p>\n<p>Along the way we officially entered \u201cSouth Florida\u201d.\u00a0 Per the cruising guide at mile marker 935 we should start to see the turquoise waters of South Florida.\u00a0 Do you see the difference in the photos?<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1014 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/dreamtime-sailing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/P1030206-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"p1030206\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/dreamtime-sailing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/P1030206-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/dreamtime-sailing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/P1030206-768x576.jpg 768w, http:\/\/dreamtime-sailing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/P1030206-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>To be honest we didn\u2019t really notice much difference. \u00a0We were definitely entertained when we entered a dolphin zone where we saw quite a few.\u00a0 They seemed to be adults and juveniles\u00a0as they swam together. \u00a0 \u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1013\" src=\"http:\/\/dreamtime-sailing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/P1030205-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"p1030205\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/dreamtime-sailing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/P1030205-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/dreamtime-sailing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/P1030205-768x576.jpg 768w, http:\/\/dreamtime-sailing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/P1030205-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1011 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/dreamtime-sailing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/P1030196-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"p1030196\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/dreamtime-sailing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/P1030196-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/dreamtime-sailing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/P1030196-768x576.jpg 768w, http:\/\/dreamtime-sailing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/P1030196-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Throughout the day we would see many random islands in the middle of the Waterway which broke up the scenery of open water we couldn\u2019t navigate due to being too shallow, as we were forced to stay in the 200 foot \/ 60 metre wide channel.<\/p>\n<p>Vero Beach Municipal Marina has a large mooring ball field where boats can tie up for a very reasonable fee.\u00a0 The area is so popular that boats often have to raft up with multiple boats on a single ball.\u00a0 We opted for a marina slip as we were only going to be here for one day. \u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1012 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/dreamtime-sailing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/P1030200-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"p1030200\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/dreamtime-sailing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/P1030200-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/dreamtime-sailing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/P1030200-768x576.jpg 768w, http:\/\/dreamtime-sailing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/P1030200-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We can see why folks stay here for extended times, as the marina and mooring balls are in a very protected basin.\u00a0 We will plan to come back in the future for a longer stay and take the time to explore the area.<\/p>\n<p>But for now, we are ready to depart for Fort Pierce in the morning.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>13 December 2016 Melbourne &#8211;
